Train the Trainer Courses
An IDPH-approved Train the Trainer Course is required for RN instructors with an Associate’s Degree. It is not required for RN instructors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher IF employed at an approved BNATP.
Program coordinators may request any individual instructor to attend a Train the Trainer Course at their discretion.

This Train the Trainer course includes Alzheimer’s Disease & Approved Evaluator Components. It consists of 5 weeks of online instruction with students completing readings, discussion postings, and assignments. The instructor is available by email and phone.
Creating effective learning objectives, test items, and lesson plans are just the beginning! Educational techniques for a variety of students will be explored. This course is approved by IDPH.

Description: This course is designed for the RN who is interested in becoming an instructor for a basic nurse aide training program (BNATP). The course meets the requirements outlined in the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Long Term Care Assistants and Aides Training Program Code. This course includes the Evaluator’s Workshop component which will evaluate the student’s competency demonstration of selected performance skills.

Description: Successful completion of this course will qualify RNs licensed in Illinois to develop and teach the Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program, including the Alzheimer’s portion of the curriculum. The Evaluator Workshop portion of the course will qualify participants to test manual skills in the Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program. Participants will be required to complete a teaching demonstration. This course is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion indicating they have earned 50 contact hours of continuing education by the Illinois Nurse Practice Act Rules, Section 1300.130 Continuing Education, c) 1) N).
